My exp is like hell in TCS, i resigned from TCs at off-shore in gurgaon branch . i am Server admiistration guy. i was stopped by delhi It head of TCS to stay and given on site .
i refused the very good company offer(CSC with good package) just on IT head promise.
I have been sent to onsite in UK and fucking things start happening with me. they kept me in EUC team , doing image roll-out , moving desktop from one desk to another.
I just feel like TCS my life bad company. i am deciding to resign from TCS .
Does any one know what are the TCS policy of resignation at onsite or from off-shore after onsite return.
i have already asked my IT head to call me back to india ASAP.
Fucking my profile....and fucked like never ever on job...TCS 10 th class company to work..they will start killing ur skills so that you cant go anywhere and qualify for job.

even they do not do appraisal...on time my ITA is pending and will stay same for few years..fucking TCs policy.

I think everyone who hates the company will leave it eventually as soon as possible.
If you think a person who hates a company should leave then you are very narrow and stupid. It shows your lack of intelligence and lack of power to understand other people. What is important is not to ask haters to leave but to find the reason why they hate the company. Hear them out and see if there is any truth to what they say. Anyway, "leave", "go", "come" is the normal attitude of PLs/GLs/MATC. So I guess there is a high chance that anyone who is saying these things falls in these categories.
And my review? TCS sucks!

Madarchod Company....They will suck your blood like anything..Gross Human rights violation is happening..If you are in any production support project then be ready to work for 24 hours also which happened to me..I was in office for 25 hours one day and that Day I mailed all the high level people to inform them about this HR violation...But these mother fuckers didn't responded..Even after doing 2 months of night shift these fucking bastards didn;t approved the night shift allowance...In TCS nobody will listen to your problem or complain..Because of these fuckers I was hospitalised as for one month they asked me to work for 7 days a week..with around 15-16 hours a day...After repeated complain when nothing happened..I simply stopped comming to office and finally when I was reluctant to come to office they released me from the project...Here Manager/PLs think themselves as Owner of the company...These Mother fuckers will not give a damn even if you die taking stress...TCS is like a third grade Govt. company..Except various learing programs there is nothing good in this company...Just only to earn bread and butter one should join TCS ..

No one is expecting these folks to be with us. Go head,resign and prove yourself. First think i lost my life after joining tcs. Leave about pay and increments.This asshole company cannot provide a decent working enviroment.There is no ac after 5 pm. So people working after need to work under horrible conditions.Now these asshole will say why are you working after 5 pm . Motherfucker ifwe need to share a pc among 2 people how will i not work after 5 pm . Such is the working enviroment.If its false ask anyone from rtsc .I once asked if i can work from home as i have ac and pc in my home they said its security violation . Hi Every body saying their views regarding TCS Retainers.But as a retaner my exp is in TCS Retainers are like MUSAPHIRS simply the life of retainer in TCS in like MOSAPHIR.
Just TCS wants work from Retainers no matter what we did for that retainer they wont think.
No Employee will do work in office only retainers need to do work.Even the retainer health is not good then also they need to come to office PL wont agree for his/her leave.But employees can take 5-10 days leave for thier brother /sister/parents/Friends mariage day
(marrige anniversary not the marriage).So any company that recruting retainers from TCS will surely get the new good resource.

"Hello boss, the client is expecting this as early as possible. You should take steps to complete this before time. When I was in your place I worked 18 hours a day. I used to sleep in office without going home. This is working life boss, you have to work like this".
Me: See boss, these things are going to take time. Even if I work 18 hours it cant be completed.
"What are you doing in weekends? Come to office, there will be lot of peace. No one to disturb you. Your productivity will go high and you can finish this job by monday".
Me: No I can't come on weekends. I need time for myself and have lots of household work remaining.
Later on the 1st level god complained to the 2nd level god. (Yeah bosses are gods in this fu**ing sh**hole)
3)I had a problem in the design. We need to put 3 java objects in an array and later take them out. Now there are two ways I believe (anyway I was working with 0 training so I could be wrong) :
i)put 3 objects in a particular order in the ArrayList and later take them out in the same order. This would need to be written down somewhere because the order is not mentioned in the design. Besides I'm not sure whether it is good coding practice to have dependency on the order like this.
ii)put the objects in any order and identify each object after taking it out by using some loops. The problem with this is that it will consume more cycles.
So I went to ask the team lead which way is correct.
Me:
Team lead: One minute wat ru saying?
Me:
TL:wat data is in the obj? (totally off topic)
Me:
TL:why is this data here?
Me:
TL:Im not understanding
Me:
TL:Why is this data like this. show me the code.
(he was the one who had reviewed the design)
After 1 hour of discussion and fed up with his stupidity I decide to take the first method to make my life easy.

This is asshole company where all Project Managers and PL's suck your blood they get work done from you and get credits for themselves and if u dont lick their feet they will give you 2 rating even if you have earned lot of client appreciations.Goal Setting will be done in the end no time to achieve goals even if u achive them then they will try to force u accept 2 rating they bastards.After using you completely HR's force you to leave the company and say voluntarily leave.There is no job security..Anhra people are biased and promote only andhrates..TCS manages instead of positive motivation sends Team members under depression.Managers are always biased you should have great links in tcs to survive or else you should be a great spoon of your supervisor.There is no transparency in aprraisal and firing jobs system in this bladdy cheap TCS company.I hate this company state biasing is a great isue over here....BASTARD TCS uses people like tissue papers and throws out whnever they want.....BASTARDS.....

the basic problem with this company is that, they have too many resourses, especially <3 yrs experience and hence they are treating people as disposable assets. 'take the d*ck in ur a** or else leave' attitude. And to make sure that people remain a disposable asset, they make sure that u know nothing, never allow u to specialise or master any one technology. Most probly, ull end up in a production support proj where u learn nothing technically, end up working in obsolete technology that has no scope anywhere else if u plan to leave the company. if ever u plan to leave the company, u know nothin worthwhile enough to command a decent salary outside. ppl become dependent on the company. as long as tcs employs them only thell be having a job. tcs takes advantage of this and asks u to work more if else.... u know.
no ethics here. manager always after beautiful gals, always droooling after them. cute gals get good apprisals and end up going onsite. u guis, u need to su*k ur manager's a**, di*k, and whatever else he has to get a decent rating.
worst company if u r a fresher. ull be wasted here. ull lose all ur knowledge, thinkin power, and some times, even ur di*k over rating. ull be put in prod support, asked to come in odd timings to a office at siruseri (50 kms from chn) without any good transport. theve even increased the bus feees to 2.5k p m..... who asked them to have a campus 50 km from city?
do not dream of onsite if u r a gui and do not wan to lick ur managers di*k.
too much politics. only thing ull learn is how to survive bad leads and managers. ya, u can survive anywhere, even among talibans if u can manage it here in tcs.
very bad company if u want to learn and grow in ur career.
and the fresher 2 ys bond becomes a 3 yr bond as u get called only after 10 -12 months after graduating.

They have very few development projects. Lots of projects are support and maintenance.
No transfer, highly biased against other state people. Promotions are almost myth.
You can get your transfer only if u have some high influence contacts inside TCS.
For freshers stay for maximum 2yrs not more than that, cause it takes up to 3 yrs with continuous ratings of 4( very difficult).

Worked for TCS for 3 years in a non-tech, client role onsite
- No changes for carreer growth (only in case you're from TN)
- No carreer counseling, no personal goal setting, no growth path.. no-nothing
- Training... find you're own way..
- Support is spread out so tine... you pretty much on your own
- Sr. Management is very, very negative in its approach to people that work 60 hours a week for them...
- Global.. my ass.. you cannot pretend you understand local clients by running the entire show from India
- Team work: nope, you're on your own...
Just dont think about starting you're carreer here... your just a number, and in the end of the day.. it doesn't matter how hard you worked and slaved yourself.. very opportunistic.. espcially now the economic shit has hit the fan

Positives : Company allows you to charter your career as you want. Lots of flexibility. It's upto a person to fit himself in any group, including with your supervisors, team members etc. No use cribbing, all bosses are same everywhere anyway. Negatives: No adequate matching done between skills and roles... completely upto people. Processes are not to help you but red-tape. where are all the girls btw ;)

Thats some other poor souls review. Think about it - what would have happened to him. If you resigned and then you were told not to how would you manage? What procedure would you follow? Would your relationship with your boss ever be the same again? More importantly - do you think whatever company you are working in right now could do something like this to others? Probably no.
And more importantly - is this ethical? Is this what is "experience certainty"? Is this called caring for your employees? Isn't this the kind of image that this shit hole bloody company has in the market? Isn't this what attracts poor people like me who come to know of the truth too late.
Even after leaving that fu**ing company I still cannot forget the pains I had.
I'm giving 2 stars to collegues because some of them are at least good people (but too stupid to help you out).
Job security gets two points because I didn't care anymore about whether the company can leave me or not. All I cared about was leaving the company SOMEHOW. I was desperately searching for another company.

I joined the Global Consulting Practice of TCS after my MBA. Despite having better paying offer I was smitten by the TATA brand. (Yes, I was an idiot back then).
I had an extremely arrogant boss who knew nothing about the subject and had copied some tools from a Japanese consultancy to start his own practice. He did not even understand the basics. He was also infatuated with all the pretty girls and almost every week some new babe in the building would get an offer to join out practice. Then he would spend hours locking himself and the newly acquired babes in his cabin on the pretext of training them. All this while the business went to dogs. He also used to openly abuse and shout at his subordinates if they questioned anything he had to say. He was openly boasted that he was using a "management by fear" concept. If you were on his good books (mostly babes... and a few men too who could put up with his tantrums) you got the projects, otherwise get lost!!! There was absolutely no respect for talent or hard work, but it was of utmost importance to bend over when he wanted.
The consulting practice was joke in itself. There was no proper plan on developing consulting skills. Most of the consultants on payrolls were utterly useless and had minimal to none knowledge base. They proudly used to say themselves that the real experts don't come as cheap as them.
There was utter confusion from the top if TCS wanted to do business consulting. We used to have meetings and reorganizations of groups but in the end we saw no results. The junior guys like me were considered disposable idiots, even if we were the one's actually making those reports. If we did not contribute the consultants would have been shot by the client for just being too stupid.
I do not have exposure to other departments of TCS and do not have the stomach for that either. I made better use of my talent and joined one of the biggest consulting firms in the world. I earn much more and am happier now. Don't join the consulting practice in TCS is all I can say... Most of the employees there are a waste of oxygen.

TCS is one of its kind of a company. There only Morons can survive. I have seen that girl are given preferential treatment. Most of the people who survive in TCS are those who can go to any extent to satisfy their bosses. You guess what, your promotion, Salary hike everything depends on whims and fancies of your manager. If you are good with your mouth(guess how) you can easily go up the ladder.
One good thing about this company is politics. even Indian politicians will be ashamed by kind of politics that Manager play to ensure to get credit for other work. If you are dreaming of becoming any notorious politico, you should learn the basics in TCS.
To be a manager in TCS following qualities are required. You should be able to cheat your customer consistencly. I have even heard that in the appraisal process of Manager, they have are special columns 1) How may juniors they have molested/harassed 2) How good they are in back talk 3> How dishonet and mean they are and so on and so forth.I have seen manager who truly deserve to be in TCS. Reason being they will not be recruited by any other company.
My experience with this company is really bad. Here HR are the most unprofessional ones(they are recruited form some c grade colleagues so that they can be paid less).

hi i joined TCS in feb'2006.previously tata infotech mergd with TCS on feb'06.i stayed for 2.2yrs.U can imagine from my joing date to my reliving date i have seen my Gurgaon office only once(from inside) and 4-5 times from highway-on road.And above this i was deputed at client side (india only)from last 2yrs and was coordinating on phone only with my PL.As to m y astonishment i have never seen my PL also.all my communication was on phone only.And when i asked to change my project ,,,threatning was given to me...reklated to my rating.And all above i like to say TCS is just a fraud company.It does not hav any values ,,,and one can only dream for onsite projects. So friends its better join infosys,ibm or other IT-companies.Atleast for freshers take 1 yr experince ,and look for change in next year.

To say the best. TCS is a company that totally bastardizes Information Technology from all perspectives. TCS sucks in all of its projects. All of them are support/maintenance (No exagguration :-O). There are no development projects in this company. Technical freaks, stay away from TCS. Managers open their pants for girls to allow them to suck their penis so that they can put 5 rating in their appraisals. Some guys also suck manager's penis, and they get 4.5. The hard workers who do a lot of work get 2 to 2.5 max. If you are extremely talented, all of the girls work wil be dumped onto you while the girls go and sleep with the managers happily. Especially in the JNR, Chennai office, there is a motherfucker called as Ravinder who rejects candidates in interviews if they ask a reasonable salary for their talent. To top it all, TCS takes your tax returns without question and also reduces employees salary when the industry slumps. Totally unprofessional organization. To the clients, TCS claims to be a PCMMi Level 5 company, but you need to go inside to know what shitty process they follow. Clients and employees stay away from this shithole!

9. Onsite - chances are good, if you are lucky. However, I had to wait 3 yrs to get one chance, that too for 1+ year. If they want to you to send onsite, Here lot of people from GLs, AMs, PMs, MATC, HRs play lot of gimmicks. I know one account where nobody want to join becos of politics, no onsite chances, high level of stress. If you go to MATC for onsite, they will ask you to go to that account and from here drama starts: MATC says they have onsite chance, GL says at present no onsite, but will surely send in a month, AM says it may take 3 months, PM says already lot of exisitng employees want onsite, so you have to wait atlease 6-8 months, and your collegues will say you will not be able to atlease for 2 years, Howz that?
10. Resigning - You have to give 3 months notice, if came from onsite 6 months, that too not so easy..
Finally, I feel almost all companies are running with so-called experts soaping their managers, politics etc etc. TCS is best among all other.. Always define your goals and tell them strictly to managers, if they don't give an opprotunity they should release from the account like that you have to get commitments. then only things will work..

I am working for TCS from 4 years. I have gone through all reviews at this site and here are my opinions:
1.For freshers, It is a good company as they will go through a good training process for 6 months which is their base. However, after the training, nobody knows where they will be placed.
2. I have joined TCS with 3 years of exp and My relevant experience was reduced to 2 years, reason being one of prior company is very small.
3. HR - I feel HRs here are not professionals. Some of them are good ofcourse. They are experts (???) in dealing with people. How to stop them from leaving the company, how to make late decisions on promotions, etc etc. No proper behavior..
4. MATC - the most irritating people. However, we may have to consider their stress also. They has to satisfy requests (send 2 yr, 3 yr associates etc) from different accounts. However, their behavior needs to be changed.
5. Supervisors - 50% of supervisors in TCS promoted to that position by soaping their seniors or stealing work from their team and informing higher mgmt that they have done work. One of my supervisor asked me to postpone my engagement and marriage for project needs. He is very much eager to talk with Girls. All Girls in our account went onsite and created chaos with their inexperienced way of coding and deployment. Most of the males has to soap him everyday to get good opportunity. Me being straightforward not able to get an opportunity and got released from that account and came to US through another account.
Another supervisor don't like if somebody writes a mail without Hi at the beginning of the mail. He don't know normal email etiqutte (he puts smile symbols :-), ;-), spelling mistakes etc in his mails) and he used to tell us to write mails neatly.
Overall, Supervisors are worst worst..
6. State feelings, Language feelings are common and if supervisor is also from same state you will get promotions etc etc. If you are attending a meeting, few people starts speaking in Hindi or their own language leaving others in irritation.
7. Transfers are not easy. You have to go through lot of nasty people to get that.
8. Promotions - HR will say they don't have updates on promotions for this year. I do not know why they stop promotions one year and start it in another year. It solely depends on supervisors again.

I was unfortunate enough to work for this company. I too fell for the brand name TCS and realized the truth late.
Work load totally depends on the project and you capability. If the management finds that you are good - you'll get lot of promises and more work dumped on you. I with some of my hardworking colleagues ended up working 16 hours on average including regular weekend slots.
Life cannot get more miserable than this. You go home to sleep - get up n back to work. This is your entire life - you'll loose touch with friends and family. What little time you get - you'll spend sleeping catching up on lost sleep.
Trust me the medical problems you'll face from stress within a year will make you wonder about you ill fated decision to join this sweatshop.
Management doesn't care about employee satisfaction or health - you're just an asset to be milked to the full. Even leaving this place is cumbersome. The HR will try delaying long enough, that whatever offers you might have will vanish.
Promotion is purely based on how much years you spend warming your seat.
Warning to all prospective employees - Stay away from this Hell!!!!!

Tcs is the worst organization i have ever known. Most ppl are extremely stupid, egoistic and stubborn. Finish work before time and they will complain and give you more work. Bosses are ruthless, very very rude-worse than chennai auto rickshaw ppl, 0 innovation and a lot of politics. Talented and creative ppl cannot survive here for long. Bad communication between depts- keep running between matc and bosses. They won't call each other to clarify. Bosses are unbelievably egoistic. One boss told his subordinate to skip his wedding so if could work. The guy was totally shocked out of his wits. When he said its his own wedding the boss says in this age he always use video conferencing. No policies are clear. Ask any random person here about different policies and you'll get all different answers, the only common being we don't know. Hrs are never available. Go in morning, check before lunch, after lunch, in the evening they leave anyway.
You are referred to as a rescource officially and treated as well-without emotions. We have an internal feedback annually-the manipulated results are suprising to everyone. When some reporters are going to come we are taught what things we must say if caught by them. You can't be even 10 min late or pl escalates issue to pm. I'll definitely leave this company soon.

Stay away from TCS...get into any damn company but not TCS and to be more specific don't be anywhere near TCS Kolkata

I am a person with 6 years of Work Exp (4.5 years in TCS and 1.5 Years of proper Exp in non IT) and I am still a ASE(the lowest)
Work culture,HR ,Project allocation is just the worst...
You get onsite,promotions ,rating not on the basis of your performance and dedication but for keeping your dumb manager happy
Higher managers are the most unskilled employees yet they are the most highly paid
The managers with Desg ITA are never rated below D(with band from A- E) as there salary willbe affected most and rest ratings for a projects are divided amongst other.I have known manager who can't complete a sentence properly in from of Client and being rated D...Hats off to TCS...
In Kolkata TCS,the capability of a employee for a assignment is judged from your Surname /place where you belong to ..anyone outside West Bengal is taken as a dumb and given all the worst works in a project.
Even there is an incident when the Team who allocate employee to Projects(terms MATC) asked a Guy if he is a bengali or not as his Surname was misleading and accordingly he was given the allocation .Stories and experience at TCS will be end less ..
the earlier you quit the better..
Its a place for people who want a onsite without skill set,who want no growth..
People who want all the best things of life wth least effort...

This is the most horrible organization I have worked for so far. The so called domain experts don't know anything and the bosses are egoistic authoritarians. All talented people are advised to stay away. I am going to quit soon. Salary is laughable and work culture is lethargic. Innovation is dead and processes are oxymoron.

To survive in TCS company you need not be a talented person. Only thing you must know how to put soap and shampoo. Your techinical skill no way help you in getting a good rating. TCS is a military type of organization. You must obey your superiors without asking any questions. Many projects here are low quality works which requires only Excel and MS word skills. I know many people who are technical gurus with rating 3 and 2 with a lot of certifications and rating 5 with no techinical knowledge and certifications. Rating is purely personal biased. You must be nearly like a beggar especially in initial stages. Freshers who are talented never join this company. If have a small misunderstanding with your superior your life in danger. No one cares for you how much talented you are. Managers do anything to spoil one career.

Why does TCS suck big time?
1) Working 14 hours daily for 6 days a week with NO casual leaves allowed will suck the life out of you.
2) Being forced to work even after your exhaustion point and given ONLY negative feedback and low pay will make you feel like a pimp. I felt it! I was forced to do something for money. The pay sucks (and they simply cut more for their profits. It pays the lowest among all companies). I was treated like a dog recieving dozes of criticism and blame from my supervisor. I went home and slept. Woke and came to work.
3) Lose contact with all your friends. No time for family members. My project attrition rate was 45%. They either got release or resigned.
4) I experienced heart burns and severe headaches. And I was a person who had never experienced headache in my entire 23 years. My heart was in a fit condition in college as I played sports daily and did swimming/gym alternatively.
5) My team also wanted to resign as soon as possible but there was no time to make a resume and hunt for jobs.
6) We worked in 2-3 projects all at once.
7) When I tried talking about my problems to other senior managers they just laughed shamelessly while I spoke. This is the attitude you get in TCS. For design review my boss just passed it off. He didnt even bother to look at it. When we all started on the design we came accross several design errors. For me it was even harder as I was not given any training. I not only had to learn what was possible to be done and how to do it, but also whether the current design will do it and what would be the best possible way.
And I saw dumb assholes also surviving in other projects. TCS will burden you beyond your capacity if they find you are not dumb.
9) After working till 11pm (even 1am sometimes) initially I used to tell my boss “I worked till so and so time yesterday night so that I could complete this part”. What was that son of bitch’s reply? “I dont care how much time you put in. Its your fault if you had to put in so much time. If you were a good worker you could have completed the entire project before time. Is the project completed?” “no” “Then I dont want to hear these things.”
The net is restricted. No personal mails, social networking.Your social network is best off dead. No youtube/song/video sites. Some news sites also blocked (“politics/opinion”). Download of any exe/zip/any audio/video blcked.all job sites.some forums & discussion sites. net stops working. comp basic privlges missing.

Well the Delhi office has the bad repo of all the TCS offices..As i was reading thru the other guys views.. I truely agree to..
1. Politics of the managers they would do anything play politics spoil associates future for their own good.
2. you want rating of 4 & above Just be a CHAMCHA or work really extraordinary. Go home after ur manager/TL has gone and come before they come.
More over the ppl from Tata infotech who were absorbed in to TCS are looks as some low standard guys.
The Managers are really GOLI baaz. why dont they understand that we are also humans we also have family..
they will say we have given you rting of 3 but this bullshit curve fitting made it 2 we cant help. go to HR.. they would say sorry talk to ur GL PL daam bullshit..
By chance if you are unallocated they wont see what ur know what u have worked for they just want you to be allocated ... either you know the domain or you dont know...will send .Net guy to VB, Testing guy to Development role U ask them Onsite they say We dont have yet... and in some cases they would say u dont have H1B but now we have urgent requirement of H1B guys.
ALL POLITICS...And BAD of all news... ASE to ITA promotions are held for further notice.. I am eligibale for Promotion in JAN 2009 but now the there is no Jan cylce. my promotion will happen in june 2009

These girls are just happy if they can work and look after their families at the same time.
Because of that, other than me there was nobody with some decent amount of experience in this team. The earliest one could leave for home was at 7:30 PM, plus there was weekend work most times.
Girls used to leave at 7:30, we guys used to stay back and take cabs after 11 on a regular basis. I even did night shofts till 3 AM some times. After my engagement (one month into this team)I told the GL that I would be getting married soon so won't be able to work like this next month onwards. He blatantly said "That's why I prefer people with no commitments at all. Had I known you had a girlfriend, I wouldn't have taken you." I said "You can still release me from this project." He refused. After strugling and cribbing for 8 months, he finally agreed to release me and right then I got an onsite opportunity for a huge client. I'm onsite for about a year now and during my last half-yearly appraisal my manager asked where I see myself a year down the line. I said I wanted to be given a Lead's position now. He said he would make me a Lead only if, apart from doing my daily work (which is too much as usual), I help TCS grow business by pushing a few more TCS guys in the client's office here. I am just a consultant here, and even if there are open positions, I'm not supposed to know such confidential information. He said I should eavesdrop in every conversation that see taking place near me here and try to find out openings and push some more TCS guys in.
That sounded eerie to me. Had I not had the obligation of going back to Calcutta for several family reasons, I would have never joind such a crappy company.

Part One :
I started my career with Infy in Bangalore and then moved to a much smaller product-based company with a good raise in salary. Did quality work there for some time and then decided to join TCS for 2 reasons :
1. I desparately wanted a long-term onsite opportunity to improve my financial conditions at that time.
2. I wanted to go back to my home town Calcutta without having to worrying about changing the company yet again.
I was shortlisted for an onsite position in the UK for a good client. After I cleared the technical interviews, an HR guy asked me what my expectations were from TCS. I mentioned the above 2 points. He said getting a location transfer immediately was not possible but since I'll be reporting the onsite office right after joining TCS, I can finish the assignment, come back to India and apply for a transfer to Calcutta. This souded pretty reasonable to me so I agreed to join TCS with a very nominal raise in salary. I had promised that I would join as soon as I can. I was supposed to give a month's notice to my then employer but I left after 10 days, finishing all pending work and paying 20 days' salary as penalty. On my first day in TCS I was told that the UK position I was originally selected for has already been filled up anf the guy who was sent was actually interviewed and recruited before me. Because of inter-departmental miscommunications the HR team wasn't aware of this and took me, too. They said they would get me a great project in a few days' time. I was sent to a team working for no specific client. It was the development and support team of an application which TCS had purchased from an European Software firm and which is used by a few banks in different countries, mostly in EU. The GL of this project was very impressed with my profile and assured me that he had lots of onsite opportunities but very few experience resources to place there. He was so polite and jolly that I somehow was convinced. I decided to join that team. In a couple of weeks I realized that I was in a totall mess. This team consisted of 2 types of people.
1. Guys - fresh out of college or with less than one year's experience whom you can put anywhere as they would do everything to get that 'letter of confirmation' or 'that illusive onsite assignment' a year or so down the line.
2. Girls - married, either pregnant or mothers, and they don't want to go anywhere. You can keep them here forever and they won't even ask for an onsite.

People working in the company for even more than 3 years are being sacked..Ramadorai said that poor rating is the reason.. then why it did not happen in last 35 years? who is giving ratings ?GL's have a target to give at leat 10 % employees 2.So that on the basis of that many employees can be sacked at a time.
4.
Low quality tech support projects, even a +2 can do that work.

I worked for Tata Infotech before it merged into TCS. But I believe both these companies have the same policies that they follow. To start with it was a HORRIBLE experience working here. Late sitting was a norm and you always find PM literally overseeing who left work by 5:30 PM. We had a bus service for drop and pick up and out of 2 1/2 yrs I hardly got an oppurtubnity to take the bus. Working over the weekends too was a normal thing here. It was so bad that even during my 8th month of pregnancy I was expected to come to work during weekends. Leaving apart all this they have a 3month notice period which is really bad. If you give notice even 1 day less you are supposed to pay some money to get the relieving letter. In some cases you have to pay even after your notice period (just like how it happened to me) for their lack inter departmental coordination. I told the GM that I want to leave the company because my husband has got an oppurtunity in US and I want to join him after 3 months. He kept dragging this topic saying he could place me in US thru TIL in the same place as my husband. I thought this was a good oppurtunity. Just before 1 month he says there are no oppurtunities in that location so cannot go ahead with that plan and also conveyed he cannot consider 3 months notice as company policies cannot accept that. That was ridiculous. I had to pay 21000 rs for his mistake. I think I have written enough and you ll should by now know how it is. It may not be the same for everyone, but thats how it was for me.

The real govt attitude in private s/w segments with minimal professional ethics and attitude. The staffing executives in Man power allocation task committee just out of any third grade local MBA colleges feels they r the Boss ,behaves very strange and stupidly with the techies having experiences more than the no of yrs they r in college. Sounds funny the communication medium is the local language, even project meeting, telecon and if u don't have the local language edge u r at sea. If u want to see what management is and the real managers with tuskers, u’ll find that species here really cheap wants only malice and oiling them. Their attitude really sucks, the appraisal systems is like the govt CCR, the more u malice the more chance of getting a good appraisal. Your supervisor is u r boss and in fact all-in-all, no intervention of HR, so mind u keep a good relationship. They r allergic to hear no 4m you, the more u r a yes boss kinda, the more valuable resource you are. If you want success in u r professional career do everything at office, the valuable resource are those who stays at least 18 hrs in office.Work,eat,play,sleep and love ,do everything in office. Retainers r higly under paid with a very funny performance based pay.To beat the market heat ,stay till u r at overseas .2yrs bond 4 fresher,onsite bond and a notice period of 3 months.It's really beyond obvious.TCS branches are managed locally by local people,feel at Home.Support groups Finance, Admin and travel sucks

Work pressure depends on the project and your manager also. If your manager is a workaholic person he wants you too to sit back upto 9 pm and won’t like you to leave office even if you don’t have any work in office for the day.
